The third season of the Goonies is now complete and I must say I had a great time playing some kickball with ya'll. I want so specifically thank Luke for being my co-captain this year and helping run the team.

The playing may be over but there are still a couple more kickball-related things coming up.

Semi-finals and Championships this Thursday. Go cheer on your favorite team (I'm pulling for an MVP upset) and then drink some beers at the bar afterwards.
The End of season party is on July 1st at the Hard Times Cafe in Germantown from 3pm-9pm.
A possible Goonies end of season party TBA. Anna Lisa you still up for holding a Goonies throw down?

I really want to thank each and everyone of you for playing kickball this year. I had a great time, but the best part was just hanging out with you all.

The Mustache Contest is On Like Donkey Kong

Here are the rules!

1) Everyone puts in 5 bucks, half the pot goes to charity half goes to the winner.

2) Starting today you can't shave your upper lip. You may grow a beard for the next two weeks but on the last day of the contest (June 22nd) you must have a mustache.

3) If you shave your stache anytime during the next 2 weeks your out.

4) The money goes to the last man standing if multiple people are left then the Goonie girls judge the best stache.

The 5 bucks is due by the next game (June 15 @ 7:30)

May the best mustache win!!!

Who knew Mitch was in the witness protection program? Study Sergio's stance and maybe we can all kick the long ball (hee-hee). Sunshine scores her hundredth run. O.k. so the whole team hasn't scored 100 runs in three years, but you get the idea. And lastly, the Goonies Coach and GM are very pleased with the game.

Our game against SuperToe that got rainded out last week will take place on June 8th at 7:30pm on Feild B. It has been added to the calendar (look over there ==>).

Please give a hearty kickball welcome to your 2006 Goonies!

Kim - a second year playa! She is actual way too smart to be playing on this team, but we are glad to have her.

Mike - a free-agent, the team had to cut some veteran players to get under the salary cap to sign him.

Karen C - aka Nerak, she runs more than Forest Gump and will surely be running around the diamond this year. Happy belated birthday.

Patrick - a rookie to the team, he will be using his ample kickball salary to pay for college. Sure to be a fan favorite.

Luke - a veteran known for crafting, double, triple, and even quadruple plays and that's just with the ladies.

Andrew - a last minute signing, not much is known about this mystery player, will he be the next bigfoot?

Leslie - a rookie to the team and ready to whoop some arse.

Burt - raised by baboons, he is a hearty kickball warrior. Be careful he is known to throw his own poop.

Anna Lisa - returning from a year away from kickball, this player is known for her off the field antics ("let's go pool hopping").

Sergio - the corner stone in the brick wall d and a known anti-pirate.

Guy - aka the coach. Has been known to Bobby Night a player on occasion.

Chas - returning from a sports injury (having a baby) that kept her out of the line-up last year. She is ready to rumble!

Kelli - a pirate joke aficionado, will Sergio and Kelli be able to get along for the sake of the team? Happy upcoming birthday.

Mitch - possibly the fastest Goonies and possessor of the best mustache in the whole Gaithersburg league.

Karen W - known for her smack talking to first baseman around the league.

Sunshine - had her best game while suffering from a painful dog leash burn (I can't make this stuff up people).

Liam - the manager of the team, responsible for all player and personnel dealings, known to cry when he doesn't get his way. A close friend of Daniel Snyder and fan of his management style.

These are some bad ass mofos! Will the team be able to rise above and win more that 3 games? Who knows, but it will be one interesting season, so stay tuned.

I think you can smell what the big red ball is cooking, whoooo!

Deadline for Registration
Get registerd before Friday, March 24th b/c that is when t-shirt orders are going in. Any later than that and you wont have your t-shirt until later in the season. I want to have about 14 people this year (7 guys and 7 ladies).

The Schedule
The tentative schedule for the season is posted.

The Bar
No one really dug the Firehouse Cue last year so the league is trying to go to Summit Station, but they are in the middle of an ownership change. So the bar is still up in the air.

The Shirt
We have Navy Blue again, but we can try to switch it up. I tried to trade for Forest Green, but the team that had that color dosnt want to give it up. We can go for white, cardinal (which I think is Red), or try to trade with someone else (don't think that will work though).

The Luke
Luke is now the VP of the G-burg Division. Way to go Luke!

I forgot to mention in my e-mail that I was going to try and pick-up our shirts this Thursday. If you want to get them before our first game you will have to come to practice on Monday, April 11th at 6:30 at Gaithersburg Middle School. If not I will give them to you at our first game on the 14th.

We had a Board meeting on Wednesday night and here are some important details from the meeting of the minds ...

The Season
The Season officially starts on the April 14th. We will have 2 pre-season pick-up games on march 31st and April 7th. All games will be on Thursday at 6:30 and 7:30. We will play at the same fields and drink at the same bar (the name has changed, but hopefully they will still have the Gaithersburger).

Registration
Registration opens this Friday. Just go to WAKA to sign up and have your credit card for the sixty ducket registration fee. The quicker you sign up the more likely we will be able to get our t-shirts for our first game.

T-Shirts
Speaking of t-shirts, what color do you all want to wear this year? We wore yellow last year, modeled by your team captain below ...

I think we should switch colors this year. Yellow makes me look fat (not phat). What would you like? Some colors are out b/c teams from last year hang on to them. The WAKA store has a list of t-shirt colors. Let me know if any of those float your boat by leaving a comment here.

Playa's
We have 11 super pimps and pimpettes signed up right now. We still need some peeps so let me know if you have someone that would want to play on the best damn kickball team this side of the Potomac.

Only 45 days until the Goonies sophmore season in the G'burg Division of WAKA starts. Are you getting in shape by doing some 12 oz. curls or eating large hamburgers? I know I am!
